Think the executioneers are pretty good melee and have ok armor. A lot of their stronger female melee fighters are without armor. Seem mostly monster oriented though.ĭark elves. None of their melee units really stand out in my mind, however. About average in everything, but with a well balanced army they are one of the best factions. Same with wood elves and beastmen.Įmpire. Unless you like to flank and ambush, their melee won't stand up long in a face to face fight. Unless you're lined up with all temple guard and a couple of top tier dinos, I'd rate them below chaos and high elves. Plus a lot of the army could end up going bonkers, so you lose control. Lizardmen have some great melee, but mostly are monster oriented. So if you want well rounded melee, go Chaos or High Elves. Maybe 1vs1 they'll do well, but overall still chaos and high elves.ĭwarfs are great defenders, but are slow and suck at offense (unless it's pounding everything to goo with artillery offensive). Not as good as above mentioned however in an army vs army. I've recently been playing orcs more, and the black orcs are pretty awesome. Not even mentioning their archery units which in numbers can beat just about anything if done quickly enough.īlack orcs are great, but due to the rest of the army having lower leadership, I'd place them behind chaos and high elves. Not really infantry, but combined with swordmasters and phoenix guard, they have one of the best armies in the game. The dragons are some of the strongest monsters in the game. And due to the faction bonuses until they start losing too many troops, they are arguably some of the best melee units in the game. And the HE have amazing leadership and good armor for high tier troops. Both are well balanced defensive and offensive units. The high elves have swordmasters and phoenix guard. They'll hold on to the end unless you flank and wipe their lord. Never been a fan of playing chaos, but playing against them sucks unless you have lots of ap units.
